The 13th Annual Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race was held January 7, 2012 with a final purse payout of $7,905 to our pro classes.
  With warm weather causing significant melting the day before the race, the course was hard, very fast, and challenging to all mushers in all classes.  The first musher left the starting chute at 9:30 am, the final musher came in to the finish line just a few seconds before 3:30 pm.  There were 79 mushers participating across 5 classes.

 

2012 race results:

Congratulations to Rene Marchildon, winner of the 2011 12-dog Pro-class race with a blazing time of 4 hours 18 minutes 33 seconds; Bruce Magnusson broke his wife Monica's course record in the 8 dog Pro with a time of 2:52:39 (with Monica also breaking her previous record with a time of 2:55:47); Al-Jo Thiardt winning the 6 dog Sportsman race; Stu Stirret taking the 4dog Sport race; and Emily Curtice, winner of the 2-3 dog youth class for the second year in a row.
